This week I want to bring focus to one of my favourite tools that I personally use almost all the time. I get many questions about this specific tool as I use them very often in my tutorial videos, so I thought I would address those questions with this product spotlight.
The tool is the Macrame Board and is made specifically for macrame work, with the intention of making the working process easier and quicker. The Macrame Board is made by The Beadsmith, which is an American company that is well know and renowned for creating jewellery making supplies and tools. The Macrame Board comes in two sizes, a large and a small, and they are both great for different purposes as I will explain more about later. They both have a grid in inches on the one side to help measure the length of your piece as your working with it and the other side is blank.
As I mentioned earlier, this tool was specifically made for macrame work, but that doesn’t mean, that is the only thing it can be used for. It is an overall great tool for many different purposes and mediums of of jewellery making. I.e. it also work great with mediums like wirework and beading, and I’m sure many more that I personally haven’t discovered yet.
As for the different sizes of the Macrame Board. Like I mentioned before it comes in two different sizes, a large and a small, and they both have their own purposes. You don’t need to have both sizes of the Macrame Board as they both serve the same purpose, but each size as it’s own advantages. If you only want to get one Macrame Board I would personally recommend going for the large one as that will work for all your projects, both larger and smaller, and it makes a great working surface in general. You can either make a larger piece on the board or have several projects on the go at once. The smaller board is better for specifically smaller projects like a single bracelet or rings and is much more convenient for travelling.
The large Macrame Board measures 11.5 inches x 15.5 inches as the full size of the board and the grid measurement is 10 inches x 14 inches.
The smaller Macrame Board measures 7.5 inches x 10.5 inches as the full size of the board and the grid measures 6 x 9 inches
